Bocchino in ebanite ingiallito... Quanto ti odio! - Ebonite mouthpiece yellowed... how I hate you!

dopo tanti post dedicati alle marche e alle critiche ecco qui in piccolo post dedicato al "fai da te".

Quante volte vi è capitato di acquistare una pipa e, dopo un po' di tempo, vedere il bocchino in ebanite che si è ingiallito?

A me è capitato con una Dunhill, nuova, ma probabilmente riposava in quel cassetto da chissà quanto tempo.

Dopo solo due fumate il bocchino presentava dei bruttissimi e antiestetici segni gialli... non so a voi ma a me danno un'impressione di trascuratezza e di vecchio che non riesco a sopportare.

Quindi: come fare per togliere questi segni? Ci sono diversi modi, dipende anche dalla facilità di reperire determinati strumenti.

1) trapano, platorello con disco in cotone e pasta abrasiva... voilà: bocchino nuovo in pochi secondi,

2) recatevi alla più vicina ferramenta e acquistate del Sidol, infilare uno scovolino nel bocchino, mettere qualche goccia di prodotto su un panno ( possibilmente che non lasci pelucchi ) e strofinare energicamente, il bocchino dovrebbe tornare come nuovo o - in caso di bocchini dilaniati - assumere un aspetto dignitoso! RISCIACQUARE A FONDO E ATTENDERE PRIMA DI FUMARE!!!

3) per bocchini veramente messi male c'è la possibilità di fargli un bel bagno nella soda caustica, io consiglio di farlo con l'amuchina ma dopo è assolutamente necessario l'utilizzo delle spazzole e delle paste abrasive.

Per bocchini con piccoli segni di denti si può utilizzare una lima che si trova nei negozi di cosmetici, è una lima levigante e lucidante per unghie. Si può trovare da Kiko al costo di €3,90.

Dal lato rosa si leviga ( togliendo i seghetti fastidiosi sul bocchino ), dal lato bianco si lucida.

Consiglio a chi volesse cimentarsi in questi piccoli esperimenti di fare un test su un bocchino da buttare in modo da capire gli effetti dei trattamenti.

How many times have you buy a pipe and, after a while, see the ebonite mouthpiece that has yellowed?

It happened to me with a Dunhill, new, but probably rested in the drawer for who knows how long.

After only two smoked the mouthpiece shows ugly and unsightly yellow signs... I don't know about you but it gives to me an impression of neglect and old that I can't bear.

So: how to remove these yellow marks? There are several ways, also depends on the ease of finding certain instruments.

1) drill, cotton pad with hard and abrasive paste... voilà: mouthpiece again like new in a few seconds,

2) go to the nearest hardware store and bought the Sidol, insert a pipe cleaner into the mouthpiece, put a few drops on a cloth (preferably lint-free cloth ) and rub vigorously, the mouthpiece should be as good as new, or - in the case of mouthpieces torn - take a look decent ! RINSE THOROUGHLY AND WAIT BEFORE YOU SMOKE!

3) for mouthpieces really in bad conditions there is the possibility of giving him a bath in lye, I recommend you do it with the Amuchina but it is absolutely necessary after this treatment using the brushes and abrasive pastes.

For mouthpieces with small teeth marks you can use a tool that is located in the shops of cosmetics, is a file for smoothing and polishing nails. It can be found by Kiko at a cost of € 3.90, or in other similar shops.

From the pink side is smooth ( removing the annoying saws on the mouthpiece ), the white side is shiny.

Advice to those who want to try these little experiments to do a test on a mouthpiece to throw in order to understand the effects of the treatments.
